About
Hi! I’m Sarah ~ I’m a painter based in Los Angeles, California.
I make colorful acrylic paintings and prints. My practice centers around play, tension + harmony, and naming the unseen. I’ve been painting, and selling my work, for 24 years (b. 1984, BFA in Painting from Washington University in St. Louis, 2005). Check out “Portfolio” for a full catalog of my work. You can also see my floral paintings on Netflix’s “The Woman In The House”. Read more about that here.
To learn with me, check out my YouTube Channel for regular, short-form painting instruction.

Outside of my painting practice I am a salsa dancer and a racial justice facilitator. In the facilitation side of my work, I aim to help other white people see and understand whiteness, so that we may all show up for racial justice in authentic, effective and sustainable ways. I am a facilitator within AWARE-LA (Alliance of White Anti-Racists Everywhere), a volunteer organization whose mission is to organize white people to stand on the side of racial justice. I have also conducted one-on-one sessions, group classes, and group facilitation within organizations.
Salsa is a hobby for me, but the connections between dance and painting are many. Dance informs my painting practice, and vice versa. If you are in LA and want to go dancing, please reach out!
Through my art-making, dancing and racial justice work, I hope to help transform the world into a more compassionate and equitable place for all, and to have a bit of fun while doing it.
